CONSERVATION

KEY SPECIES AND HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
What sets Cecropia Travel apart from other travel agencies?
Easy! Our connection to Costa Rica's natural world.
We are dedicated to partnering with organisations that are actively conserving a whole manner of species.
This page allows you to explore some of the species we are working with, and what projects you can become involved in too.

Sea Turtles

Depending on the region, sea turtles can be seen year-round throughout Costa Rica.

There are 5 different species that can be found. Most conservation work focuses on 3 species: Green, Leatherback and Olive-Ridley.

With Cecropia Travel, you can witness hatchling sea turtles go back into the ocean. Or you can work in-water with a team of experts!

Sloths

Sloths are quintessential Costa Rican, and a must-see animal on any trip here.

They can be quite illusive, staying high in the forest canopy.

However, we have partnered with the Sloth Foundation, where you can join researchers and become a Sloth Scientist for the Day.

Tapirs

The largest land mammal in Costa Rica, the Tapir is a sight to behold.

Due to habitat loss, their numbers are in decline. However, we have partnered with the incredible guides of Tapir Valley to offer guests an intimate experience with Tapirs.

If you want a more hands-on and private experience, we can organise a special session with renowned Tapir vet, Jorge Rojas
